Nic and Mic History
I got my first Icelandic in 1987, and within a few years Nick and I were importing horses from Iceland to sell in the Uk. A couple of acres at Pinecroft were just not enough, so in 1994 we were lucky enough to buy Oakfield.

At the time we had about 12 Icelandics, and we quickly went back to Iceland to find some more!

- As told by Mic...
Nick was working full time so most of the horse training fell to me or to one of the helpers we had from abroad. Mostly it was getting newly imported horses civilised and used to things like big trees and riding on the left, not the right side of the road. Plus introducing lots of new people to Icelandics.

We did a lot of displays, and took the horses all over the place - normal horse shows, sponsored rides, TV appearances, Viking reenactment, all sorts.
In 1995 we put in the first ever oval track in the UK, and for the next few years we held at least 3 competitions each year, along with regular clinics, fun rides, and riding holidays to the New Forest and Studland.
We also bred some nice foals over the years and must have sold at least 30 or so imported horses to people new to the breed. We made some lovely friends over the years and it was great fun.

Although Nick and I remained firm friends sadly our marriage didn’t work out and I moved away in 2002 although I still return regularly to teach clinics and judge at shows.
