Current Day Life at Oakfield
Over the last year and a half Tara, Kev, Hari and Aoife have become apart of the Oakfield Family helping to look after the farm since Nics unexpected passing.

We were lucky enough to be welcomed to Oakfield by Mo and Tara just a few months after the passing of Nic to help bring a number of the horses back into work. Starting with groundwork we got to know this amazing breed which we hadn’t had the opportunity to interact with ever before and gradually have brought six of our horses into constant work.
As well as hacking and track work around the farm and the surrounding area we have been eager to expose the horses to a range of activities and environments, helping keep them interested and engaged. So far this has included in hand English showing, handy pony, fun rides, hacking and hound exercising. We are looking forward to continuing with these but also exposing our Icelandics to low level dressage, pole clinics and beach rides and more Icelandic events in the coming months.
Over the last year and a half as well as re-establishing constant ridden work with our horses we have maintained in hand exercises such as use of the farms agility course and ponying to keep the horses fitness levels up. As well as this we hope to get some of them driving soon!
We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to come to Oakfield to experience this incredible breed which despite having many years’ experience beforehand we had never had the opportunity to interact with and for all the friendships and fun so far. We’re looking forward to continuing to gain knowledge of this breed and establish more friendships within the Icelandic community.
